Help Yetim Humanitarian Aid Organization carried out a comprehensive aid campaign in Niamey, the capital of Niger, and its villages between November 17 and 25, 2025. Held in Niger, one of the poorest countries in the world and Africa, the program is of great importance as it combines both emergency humanitarian support and sustainable projects.
The aid activities included stationery assistance for 220 children, clothing support for 250 orphans, food parcel distribution to 300 families, mosquito net distribution to 200 families, the slaughter of 7 large and 35 small sacrificial animals, food and sacrificial meat support for 3 orphanages, and sponsorship for 50 orphans.
In addition, 10 new water wells were opened in areas where access to clean water is extremely limited, and 10 previously opened wells were inspected. The wells opened in the Niamey and Dosso regions were built with the capacity to meet the daily drinking water needs of thousands of people.
Niger is one of the poorest countries in the world
According to the United Nations Human Development Index, Niger has been among the poorest countries in the world for years. A significant portion of children in the country face great difficulties in accessing clean water, adequate nutrition, safe shelter, and education. Mosquito-borne diseases, malnutrition, and water scarcity pose a serious risk, especially in settlements around Niamey.
Help Orphan teams therefore implemented a comprehensive aid plan in the region, focusing on both immediate needs and long-term solutions.
Water wells brought hope to thousands
The 10 water wells that were dug provided great convenience to the local population, both for drinking water and for daily living needs. Families living in the areas where the wells were dug stated that they previously had to walk for miles to reach potable water.
A 13-year-old orphan expressed his happiness at the opening of the well with the following words:
“Now I don't have to go far to get water. It was very difficult to find clean water for my mother and siblings.”
“In Niger, every drop of water, every bit of help means life.”
Cahit Ataş, President of the Help Orphan Humanitarian Aid Organization, emphasized the importance of the aid efforts, saying:
"Niger is one of the most fragile countries in Africa. Poverty, difficulty accessing clean water, and malnutrition mean a daily struggle for millions of people living here. The aid program we carried out in Niamey covers not only urgent needs but also long-term projects. The five water wells we opened will directly improve the lives of the local community. We thank all our donors and volunteers; with your support, we will continue to touch the lives of hundreds of orphans and the oppressed."
Emphasizing that they work in collaboration with both local authorities and the local community to ensure that aid reaches the right places, Ataş announced that Help Yetim will continue its humanitarian aid and sustainable projects in the poorest regions of Africa.
