Help Yetim Humanitarian Aid Organization, which continues its activities in different parts of the world with the support of Turkish citizens living in Europe, provided food aid to those in need in different regions in Sri Lanka.
Due to the pandemic, the curfews imposed in Sri Lanka for a long time and the people struggling with poverty have fallen into a desperate situation. In order to support the people in need, Help Yetim distributed food to hundreds of families in Kinniya and Muthur regions of Sri Lanka with donations made by Turks living in Europe.
Germany-based Help Yetim President Cahit Ataş said in a statement that humanitarian aid needs have increased rapidly in many countries due to the pandemic and Sri Lanka is one of the most negatively affected countries in this regard.
Stating that they continue their aid campaigns without slowing down during the pandemic process facing the world, Ataş said:
“Everyone is somehow negatively affected by the pandemic the world is facing. But while African and Asian countries are struggling with famine, drought and poverty, they are now struggling to survive under much more difficult conditions in the pandemic. Within the scope of the campaign we launched with the slogan 'Be food on the tables of those waiting for the road', we deliver the donations of philanthropists to the regions in need that we have identified as a priority. We are currently continuing our different projects in many different countries of the world. In Sri Lanka, we continue to distribute food aid to families in different parts of the country.”
